It didn’t seem like Jon Stewart was sponging what Vilsack was spilling about Iraq (and Vilsack did come off as pretty heartless when it comes to Iraqis), but I get wood whenever big name Democrats go after John McCain for his ridiculous desire for more troops. Back in the day McCain was a big advocate for more ground troops in Kosovo, and we all saw how badly we needed them then. He’d probably like to see more boots on the ground to help deal with scourge of abortion. The guy is off his fucking rocker, militarily.

As far as the joking goes, Vilsack did a good job of not trying to be too funny. He almost made a LAME joke after Stewart asked him if he was older than 35, but kind of awkwardly caught himself. On the other hand, he totally deadpanned the “can I use that as an endorsement” thing, which was awesome.

Overall he came off as competent and not humorless, but lacking some compassion. B+.
